RAPID Adhesion Release

RAPID Adhesion Release Technique (A.R.T.) is a newer movement based therapeutic technique that focuses on the central nervous systems in order to release tension and constraint within muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.

There are a multitude of conditions that can be remedied by RAPID A.R.T. including:

  • headaches / migraines
  • back pain
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • shin splints
  • shoulder pain
  • sciatica
  • plantar fasciitis
  • knee problems
  • tennis / golfers elbow
  • whiplash
  • TMJ
  • frozen shoulder
  • bursitis
  • bunions and arthritic joints

Overuse Of Muscles

These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

How do overuse conditions occur?  Over-used muscles (and other soft tissues) change in three important ways:

  • acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions, etc),
  • accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma)
  • not getting enough oxygen (hypoxia).

Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.

What is it like to receive a RAPID A.R.T. treatment?

Each session of RAPID A.R.T. is usually a combination of examination and treatment. In order to provide the best treatment, the practitioner will use their hands to evaluate the movement of muscle tissues, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormalities in these areas are treated by combining direct tension with specific patient movements.

RAPID sessions may be uncomfortable during the movement phase of the treatment. This occurs as the neurological system is being stimulated to restore normal function.

Why choose RAPID?

Many clients choose RAPID because of the ‘rapid’ response to treatment. This provides active individuals with the chance to return to their regular activities more immediately.
